Raid on AfriCOG

Police and KRA attempted to raid AfriCOG after the NGO board threatened to arrest directos for tax evasion and non-compliance, but it was thwarted when civil society activists turned up and blocked the drive. Police produced a defective search warrant, lacking magistrates signature and were forced to retreat. This is part of a post election crackdown on civil society.

AfriCOG ED Gladwell Otieno challenged the presidential result in the Supreme Court in 2013. There is speculation that Jubilee feared civil society was preparing another challenge following another controversial election result.
