Plant a tree on a bad road!

In a creative way of protest, residents of Ithekahuno in Tetu, Nyeri County, planted banana trees on bad roads in their village. This was after they failed to secure an audience with their local leaders, and it was decided during a planned film screening and community discussion organized by InformAction (IFA).

The community activists were fed up with the state of the roads and decided to take matters into their own hands. The Tetu Ward officials were embarrassed by the community protest and quickly rehabilitated one of the roads in question, just two weeks after the protest.
